Phara Sun Gold #197340

Phara Sungold was bred by Annette Patti of Phara Farms . Foaled in 1979, her sire being the Champion stallion Sungod Reflection, and her dam Lewisfield Sungal, a producer of Champions. In 1986 Sungold was on lease to a couple in Connecticut, Bob and Marie Anne Hirst. It is here that Sungold foaled her one and only colt, the sire being The Midnight Sun. This was a beautiful chestnut colt, that tragically died very young, from an unexspected accident. Therefore this colt was never registered, and was to be the only foal Sungold would ever have again. In 1987 Karen Kildahl purchased Phara Sungold, after sometime she was returned to Phara Farms , to see if she could be bred again but to know avail. Sungold was then 13 years old, and was purchased by Valerie Dressel of Hawaii, but she kept her horses in the states. I had owned Sungold's dam Lewisfield Sungal, and when she had to be put down humanely at the age of 30, I started looking for a daughter to replace her. My journey took me to Phara Sungold, now at a farm in Arizona. So in 1998 Sungold arrived at our farm (Sunh-Kyst Arabians), now at the age of 19. When Sungold stepped off that trailer , I was shocked at her condition, I didn't think she was going to make it thru the night! What I soon learned about Sungold, was that she was a strong willed mare, that wanted to live. So we got to work, and for over six months we nursed her back to a beautiful vibrant mare. Although we too were never able to get her bred, she remained with us untill her passing, just shy of her 32nd birthday.Sungold was never a champion in the sense that she won ribbons or trophy's, but she was a champion to me in so many other way's. I always admired her strength, and her will to survive against all the odds in her life. With her passing, has come the end of an era. Sungold was the last remaining daughter of SunGod Reflection, and the last daughter of Lewisfield Sungal, who was a full sister to Lewisfield SunGod. It has been quite a journey for the two of us, as Sungold taught me so much about life. I will miss her good-mourning nickers to me each day, and that "special" bond that had developed between the two of us......She truely was a grand lady , and will be missed every day.
